GMOs: What Are They?
GMOs are foods that have been genetically altered to exhibit certain traits, such as pesticide resistance or ripening speed. Scientists first discovered that DNA could be transferred between two organisms in 1946, and the first genetically engineered plant was developed in 1983. Today, GMOs are so prevalent in the U.S. food supply that they are said to be found in as much as 80% of conventional processed food.
“Contrary to popular belief, the FDA does not have a mandatory GM food safety assessment process and has never approved as safe any GM food that is currently on the market. It does not carry out or commission safety tests on GM foods.”

Benefits of Non-GMO
Non-GMO ingredients are positive in so many ways, we couldn’t help but choose them for our natural beverage. Among their many positive traits, non-GMO ingredients are said to benefit:
YOUR HEALTH
Most developed nations do not consider GMOs to be safe, and studies show that GM foods can be toxic, allergenic, or have unintended nutritional changes. By using non-GMO ingredients, we help ensure your health and safety.
FARMERS RIGHTS
Because the companies that make GMOs have the power to sue farmers whose fields are contaminated, GMOs pose a serious threat to farmers. By using non-GMO ingredients, we help support farmer sovereignty and food security.
THE PLANET
Because 80% of all GMOs grown worldwide are engineered for herbicide tolerance, use of toxic herbicides has increased 15 times since GMOs were introduced. By using non-GMO ingredients, we help reduce the use of toxic herbicides.
